If you’re heating a target in a Class 100 cleanroom or a high-vacuum chamber, you already know the headache. You don’t just need heat—you need it to be clean. Most standard heating elements are a nightmare in these environments. They off-gas or shed tiny micro-particles that end up right on your wafers or optical coatings. It’s frustrating. One tiny speck of dust and your whole batch is toast. That’s why we stick with high-purity synthetic quartz for our infrared lamps. The deal with outgassing We use fused silica with incredibly low impurity levels. Why? Because lower-grade glass has this “burn-off” effect. If you’ve ever used a cheap lamp, you know they tend to leak volatile organic compounds (VOCs) or metallic oxides for the first few hours they’re on. Our quartz doesn’t do that. It keeps your vacuum sterile. Plus, it can handle those brutal thermal shocks when you’re cycling temperatures quickly without just cracking under the pressure. Dealing with the vacuum Here’s the thing about vacuums: you lose convective cooling. Everything happens via radiation. We’ve designed these lamps to put high power density exactly where it needs to be—on the target. This keeps the surrounding chamber walls from soaking up all that heat. Just a heads-up: make sure your water-cooling jackets can actually handle the lamp’s wattage. If they can’t, you’re looking at melted vacuum seals, and nobody wants that. Built for the cleanroom We stripped away the junk. No adhesives, no porous coatings—nothing that can flake off over time. The lamps are streamlined, which makes them take up less space and way easier to clean. We also use specialized connectors to keep everything gas-tight so you don’t have to worry about atmospheric leaks creeping into your chamber. One last tip if you’re swapping these into an old rig:check your power supply. High-wattage quartz lamps pull a lot of current the second they start up. Make sure your wiring can handle that peak load. If it can’t, you’ll get voltage drops, and your heating will be uneven across the tube. Not ideal.
